Church Membership
As Christians, we are members of God's household called to work, play, live, and minister in a particular place within the body of Christ. A healthy church body looks for each member do his or her part as we grow in Christ together. For this reason, Palma Sola Presbyterian Church highly values all our members.
And we have this understanding: that our sovereign God planted us here, in this time and place, for a reason. Palma Sola’s church members are believers in Christ who get to enjoy the beauty of Bradenton and the surrounding area. We are called in mission to this community, to be like Jesus for those varied peoples we live and work among every day. Our members are blessed to serve within the church in a variety of ways: during Sunday services, on session teams, as elders or deacons, in the choir, as teachers or group members, on prayer teams, offering support to the sick and needy, showing hospitality, and much more.
Being a member of Palma Sola Church is really about being part of a larger faith family. Members who enter into a relationship with our church are called to a high degree of responsibility and service. At the same time, the elders and deacons have promised to serve and assist our members, to love and lead, provide counsel and aid, as well as to pray for, teach, and guide.
So I want to become a church member: What should I do?
1) Believe in Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior.
2) Repent of my sins and rely on God’s grace for my salvation.
3) Be a faithful member of the church, agreeing to support its mission and ministry to the best of my ability.
4) Speak to the pastor one Sunday before or after worship. Or call the church office during the work week. Or talk to one of the elders or deacons. Make yourself known. Don’t keep your faith and spiritual life to yourself. You are a new creation in Christ Jesus.
5) Join officially. Our pastor will gladly tell you how. Joining the church officially can and should well be the start of one the most rewarding life experiences you’ll ever have.
