Message from Pastor Edward…

Teresa of Avila lived during a time of reform within the church. She was instrumental in a movement of spiritual and monastic renewal in the mid 16th century. Most of us know her for what she wrote:

“Christ has no body now but yours. No hands, no feet on earth but yours. Yours are the eyes through which he looks compassion on this world. Yours are the feet with which he walks to do good. Yours are the hands through which he blesses all the world. Yours are the hands, yours are the feet, yours are the eyes, you are his body. Christ has no body now on earth but yours.”

As we celebrate the Easter season, we are reminded that the tomb could not contain Jesus’ body nor could the earth hold him captive. We acknowledge Christ’s resurrection, and after a period of 50 days, commemorate his Ascension. Although Jesus is not present “in the flesh” with us, he is present through the gift of the Holy Spirit, or the Advocate, he promised to send.

My thanks to all of you – our members and friends – who volunteer, attend, and support our work through offerings and prayers, and who bring life and energy to our church. Through your actions Christ’s resurrected presence is revealed, an important part of the Easter message that Christ is risen.

Blessings
Edward
